Luckley Entrepreneurs support Phillipines

Luckley House School in Wokingham held an exciting event on Thursday 21 November 2013; The 'Luckley Christmas Apprentice'. The event was organised by Luckley House Friends, the school's Parent Association Body and was a great success! It took the form of a Christmas Fair, but with a difference. The stalls were all run by teams of students, as part of a House competition. Each House team had a Junior and a Senior team and was given a budget of £25, with which to design, create, brand, promote and then sell a product at the Christmas Fair. The stalls were colourful and creatively presented, and sold products ranging from beautiful hand-made Christmas Cards, printed Christmas themed T-Shirts, home-made fudge, sweets, cakes and biscuits, jewellery, Christmas decorations, to a hair painting and portrait sketching!
The competition was judged by six independent markers, who scored each team in three categories: Team Organisation and Spirit; Stall Presentation and Final Profit. The winning teams were Cavell House Juniors, who had made beautiful hand-made Christmas candles and cakes, making a profit of £187. Cornish House won the Senior title with very popular lavender bags and chocolates, making a staggering profit of £209. The girls raised an impressive total profit allowing us to donate at least £500 to the Philippines appeal.
Each winning team was presented with the Luckley Christmas Apprentice Cup.
Headmistress Jane Tudor said: 'There was a great buzz in the hall and I was extremely impressed with the team spirit the girls showed, as well as their creativity, entrepreneurial skills and determination to win! A big thank you must go to our Parent Association, Luckley House Friends for their hard work and commitment to supporting Luckley with events such as this.'
