What a talented year group Spratton Hall Year 8s are for music. Music plays such an important part in the Spratton Hall curriculum with pupils from Reception right up to Year 8 having timetabled music lessons. Out of our 47 Year 8 pupils, 32 of them are enjoying playing a musical instrument or having singing lessons and 17 of these pupils are singing or playing more than one musical instrument. 3 of the pupils are Grade 6 in at least one discipline whilst 10 pupils have reached Grade 5. The depth of talent is also broad covering: singing, clarinet, tuba, saxophone, flute, trumpet, trombone, piano, keyboard, guitar, electrical guitar and violin. The opportunities to perform are numerous with the pupils able to demonstrate their skills for the enjoyment of others in Spratton Hall's Brass Group, Concert Band, Jazz Band, Choir, Room 23, Boys Choir, Orchestra, Flute Group and Guitar Ensemble. Some of our Year 8s also help out with the younger pupils as they start learning their instruments. Spratton Hall always participates in the 'Music for Youth' Competition held annually in March and a number of the Year 8s play outside of school in ensembles run by the Northamptonshire Music and Performing Arts Trust such as the County Training Guitar Ensemble, County Junior Wind Orchestra, County Training Brass Band, County Training String Orchestra, National Children's Brass Band and the Youth Brass 2000.
