St Benedict's students Catrin Beetham and Aidan Fusco have received offers for a place at Oxford University. Catrin has an Open offer to read Biological Sciences, while Aidan has been offered a place at St Hugh's to read History. Francesco Pozzetti, who was a Lower Sixth student at St Benedict's last year and has now gone back to his Italian school in Milan, also has an offer to read Maths at Pembroke College.Catrin is studying Biology, Chemistry and Physics at A Level but she is particularly keen to study Biology rather than Natural Sciences at university. She is thinking of going into research afterwards. Aidan's A Level subjects are Latin, Modern History and Philosophy and Ethics. He has a completely open mind about any future career.
Headmaster Chris Cleugh said: 'Congratulations to Aidan, Catrin and Francesco. They are the latest in a long line of students from St Benedict's to study at Oxbridge, beginning with the first pupil to attend university from the school, Dom Bernard Orchard, who went to Cambridge.'
There are nine Old Priorians (St Benedict's alumnae) currently studying at either Oxford or Cambridge, including two who are postgraduate doctorate students.
