Bedford School is delighted to announce excellent Sixth Form exam results for 2015, with over 78% of all leavers’ exams being marked at A*-B (or IB equivalent), and 48% at A*-A. James Winder achieved A*AA to take up his place to read Geography at St Catherine’s College, Oxford, where he will also continue a promising rowing career. Tom Lousada, Manu Ratnayake and Eddy Arbe-Barnes also won Oxbridge places. Paddy McDuell, England U16 Rugby cap, began the year by leading Bedford School to the National U17 Cricket title and ended it with three A grades to take him to Durham University to read Philosophy and Politics. Olly McLeod, who scored an impressive four A* grades, will join him at Durham reading Natural Sciences. Six other boys scored multiple A* grades, taking up places to read (for example) Engineering at Imperial and PPE at UCL. Talented musician Sean Davies takes up his place at the Trinity Conservatoire of Music. Head Master, James Hodgson, said “I am delighted for this year group. Having already excelled on stage, in the music school, on the sports field, in their fundraising efforts for charity and in their leadership of the school, they have now excelled in the exam hall. Each year, around 75% of our Upper Sixth take up places at Russell Group universities and this looks set to continue. We are equally pleased for those who may have missed dizzying academic heights but have achieved their best. Grades are not more important than character; we are proud of this wonderful year group and wish them all the very best for their future.”
