Boarding Life at Durham School
Published by Durham School on Wednesday 7th of October 2015
It’s been a year since I first came to Durham School but it feels like I’ve been here a decade. The thought of arriving at a foreign school without any family or friends was daunting but the school is very welcoming. The fact that the school is very culturally diverse has widened my appreciation for different ethnicities and traditions. I was worried at first that I would struggle in lessons due to language barrier and the difficulty of the courses but I find the teaching is amazing and the teachers are always willing to give me extra help. Life at a boarding school has been such an experience, there’s never a dull moment and the friends I’ve made are friends for life. Due to the fact that I’m a full boarder means that my personal financial expenses have been low but I do pay for weekend activities and going out. Studying in Britain has been a privilege and a memory I will carry around with me forever. By Year 13 student from Kazakhstan.
