Malvern St James Riders Excel at NSEA Championships

The calibre of MSJ riders was demonstrated at the NSEA Championships on 23 to 25 October, where our girls had qualified to compete in every class but one. It was a huge event, featuring around 20 classes, all with team and individual competitions. There were over 1000 riders in the jumping classes alone! Congratulations to all our MSJ girls who had a wonderful weekend and rode incredibly well against very tough competition, including pony European Gold medal winners. MSJ had a total of 10 riders competing and most had qualified in many different classes, some with two ponies. In fact, at times it was extremely difficult to keep track of who was riding where and when! In Show Jumping our teams came 12th and 20th, with Eve Hobbs achieving 9th position in the 1m class and Holly Coles achieving 3rd position. We had 5 teams competing in the Jumping With Style category, with Teagan and Genevieve Manning, Millie Cooper and Jess Morris coming 5th out of 33 teams. In the same event, Eve Hobbs achieved a 3rd and 6th position in 2 of the classes. Finally, in the Dressage competition, the MSJ team of Eve, Jess, Genevieve and Teagan came 7th out of 29 teams. Eve won the Individual 1st Open Prelim and also came 4th in the Individual Novice event. Mrs Hobbs said ‘The girls and parents would very much like to thank Mrs Woodhouse and the School for supporting the girls in their passion for riding. Thanks too to Mrs Bevan, who came to watch the girls compete, for all her support throughout the year.’
