Spratton Hall celebrate Alice in Wonderland's 150th birthday

Published by Spratton Hall on Monday 7th of December 2015

Mrs Moreton, Head of Art, along with Miss Savage, has this term spent time with the pupils celebrating Alice in Wonderland's 150th anniversary. The result is quite spectacular. Year 3 made the table and plates, Year 4 made Alice, the White Rabbit and the Mad Hatter, Year 5 made all the playing cards, Year 6 and anyone who came to help at lunchtimes made the Queen and the Cat was made by all the pupils who came up during morning break and lunchtimes from Years 3-8. Interestingly enough Spratton Hall has a link with Alice - Tenniel Evans worked as a teacher at Spratton Hall during a gap in his acting career. His maternal great-uncle was the 'Alice's Adventures in Wonderland' illustrator, John Tenniel. Tenniel Evans is best known as Taffy Goldstein, one of the two able seamen with Ronnie Barker in 'The Navy Lark'.
