U15 Final Score: Warwick School 27 – 10 Newcastle-under-Lyme Warwick found themselves 5-nil down at half-time due to errors and allowing Newcastle to score. The second half started off nervously before Warwick levelled 5-5, only for the opposition to find space and score, putting them back in the lead. Warwick’s cool heads, superior fitness and decision making prevailed. After levelling at 10-10, Archie Rippon scored a memorable try breaking through and beating two defenders to score under the posts. Warwick continued to pile on the pressure against tiring opposition eventually running out 27-10 winners. Another fine achievement and team performance from this gutsy side puts them into the last 16 of this prestigious school tournament. Warwick U15s will be playing Northampton School for Boys in the last 16 of the NatWest Schools Cup in January. U18 Final Score: Warwick School 40 – 3 The King’s School, Worcester Warwick School 1stXV had their best performance of the season in their Round 5 clash with Kings’ School, Worcester. A final score of 40-3 reflected a clinical and dominant effort by the ‘blue & whites’. Warwick scored from the first kick off with a fine try in the corner by wing Alex Lillie duly converted by Josh Grimes. This set the tone for some excellent running rugby and tries to Nick Rigby, Will Stride and Will Roberts with a further two conversions which saw the team leading 26-3 at half-time. Kings’ now had the wind at their backs but with the squads challenge set at the half-time team talk to keep them scoreless the team really stepped up. With no real chance to kick into a strong wind the ball was given lots of air providing the opportunity for number 8 Tom Dodd to score close to the posts and in the final play of the game young winger Colia Louis showed his pace and deceptionbreaking from 50m out, to score by the posts. Warwick U18s will be playing Oundle School in the last 16 of the NatWest Schools Cup in January. Alongside the two NatWest successes, the Warwick School U13 team has secured a place in the School Sports Magazine National Cup quarter-finals, after beating Bromsgrove 27-12 on Saturday. In very challenging conditions, Warwick settled quicker with an early try by centre Tom Patrick. Both sides competed physically at the breakdown but better handling by Warwick led to further tries by Ollie Stone, Will Callan and Alfie Whiteley. A penalty kicked by Elliot Tanner took the score out to 27-0 but Bromsgrove never took a step backwards and deservedly scored the final two tries of the game.
