Malvern St James Young Enterprise Company Through to the Regional Finals

Published by Malvern St James Girls' School on Tuesday 17th of May 2011

A Young Enterprise team from Malvern St James has won the Herefordshire and Worcestershire strategic final earlier this month the first time in MSJ's history! J'Adore beat off competition from seven other finalists when they pitched their company to a panel of invited local business representatives at County Hall in Worcester.
J'Adore also won Best Company Report and Best Team Work awards and now goes forward to the West Midlands regional final. In the previous round at Worcester Trade Fair, J'Adore won Product of the Year, together with the shield for Best Overall Company and Presentation.

J'Adore's product, a book entitled 'A guide to Boarding', provides hints and tips on how to make the most of all the fantastic opportunities available whilst at Boarding School, proving invaluable reading for those starting to board in September.

There is a strong tradition of Enterprise education at Malvern St James. Young Enterprise is a programme that is offered to all Year 12 students at the beginning of their AS course. This year, 61 girls formed 5 companies. The girls need to provide a product or service, raise share capital and run the company effectively.
Tamsin Elsey and Rosie Baker are Joint Managing Directors of J'Adore. Tamsin said 'Young Enterprise has been an unforgettable experience. I have a much better understanding about setting up, running and managing a business, which has really inspired me to start my own company in the future. We are absolutely thrilled to be going through to the West Midlands finals and hope that this won't be the end of our amazing journey'. Rosie agreed 'Young Enterprise has taught me so much about the business world through real-life situations. It has been a very busy few months, but his has only strengthened my time-management skills and seeing the final result of all our efforts I so rewarding. I would advise anyone in Year 11 to take up the challenge next year!'

The Regional Final takes place on June 25 at Birmingham University.
