ACS Hillingdon students create a new world at drama festival

Published Tuesday 19th of April 2016 11:27:25 AM

Future stars of the stage and screen from ACS Hillingdon International School travelled to Belgium to take part in a global drama festival. Joining schools from Italy, Denmark, Germany and Turkey at the International School of Brussels the 12 ACS Hillingdon students learned about the important role space, lighting and props play in theatre. Students enjoyed participating in a number of workshops, including one that focused on learning about the techniques of using large, cartoon-style puppets during stage shows. Using team work and creative imagination, the students, aged 10 to 14, produced their own staging and props for a multi-sensory performance to celebrate the festival theme, ‘Creating New Worlds’. Head of Grade 6 and trip coordinator, Allan Bruce, said of the trip: “It was really great to see all the students being so passionate about drama and using the four day festival to really develop their performance skills and learn about devised drama from theatre specialists. Everyone is very excited to use their newly learned approach of ‘thinking outside the box’ in their classes.”
