Fantastic Fundraising at Chafyn Grove

The charity for last term was ‘Julia’s House’, the only children’s hospice charity in Dorset and Wiltshire dedicated to helping life-limited children and their families across both counties. Once again, the generosity of the Chafyn community was humbling. The special celebration for the school’s centenary in September was, as well as being a fantastic occasion, an opportunity for a significant amount of money to be raised for worthwhile causes. Over £1,650 was collected; half to be given to Julia’s House and half sent to MacMillan Cancer Support. A couple of fundraising highlights were Mr Renham’s exciting chess challenge. He managed to raise £200 and was unbeaten on the boards. Also, Penny Littleton, who, as well as running the school shop, once again made and sold mince pies in the run-up to Christmas and donated a remarkable £289 from this enterprise. Once the final totals were accounted for, we were able to give a cheque for £1,923.17 to Julia’s House – a wonderful total!
