Rugby Presentation Evening

Published by Warwick School on Monday 15th of May 2017

On Friday 12 May Tom Croft and Matt Tait joined over 550 parents, players and staff at Warwick School’s annual Rugby Presentation Evening. The evening was a culmination of a fantastically successful rugby season! The two former England internationals, who both play for Leicester Tigers have also played in National Schools finals at Twickenham and thus related to the students, as both the U15 and U18 teams had made their respective finals at England’s headquarters earlier this year. On top of the U18’s being crowned National Champions and the U15 team runners-up, the evening was also an opportunity for those players having achieved National Caps to present their jerseys to the school: Nick Rigby and Nick David England U18’s, Tom Fawcett England U17’s and Angus Macdonald Scotland U16’s. The Most Improved Team of the Year was awarded to the U15A squad, 7s Team of the Year to the U14’s and Team of the Year to the 1st XV. Across the age groups there were 50 boys who gained representative honours at Academy level with Northampton, Wasps & Worcester rugby clubs. The evening is always one that is charged with emotions as a number of the players will have been at Warwick Independent Schools Foundation from the age of 3. The evening was also a farewell to Mark Nasey, Director of Rugby, as he departs Warwick School at the end of the school year, after 13 years. During his tenure the rugby at Warwick has grown dramatically with additional C, D and some E team fixtures being fielded and five National titles attained with a further seven runners-up positions. Mr Nasey’s closing of the evening resonated with all – ‘Be the Best that YOU can be!’
