Steampunk came to Bedford Prep School on Tuesday 27 February when they welcomed author Peter Bunzl for a series of exciting talks on his award-winning Cogheart books. Peter shared how he comes up with the fantastical ideas for his characters and plots, and some of his inspirations behind his exciting Victorian adventures, including the authors Philip Pullman and Phillip Reeve. His tops tips for the boys were: • Start writing about anything that interests you – just a little every day. • You can write at any time – even in your pyjamas! • It might take a while, but don’t give up. His first book took three years to research and write! • Be original. He also tested the boys’ listening skills and knowledge of his books with a fun robot quiz complete with zany costumes (there were plenty of fans in the audience), before signing copies of his books.
