Bedford School Sixth Former Takes On Hollywood
Published by Bedford Upper School on Tuesday 6th of March 2018
On the evening of Tuesday 27 February, there was a full house in the Bedford School Music Recital Hall for a concert entitled ‘An Evening of Film Music’. The evening was initiated, produced and directed by talented Upper Sixth Former, Ollie Graham. The 25-strong orchestra performed a large number of the most exciting and beautiful scores in Hollywood music against a backdrop of video montages. The atmosphere in the hall was electrifying. Ollie single-handedly led the event, spending months transcribing and arranging the music. Ollie also galvanised and inspired the musicians (who were all there voluntarily), and formed an orchestra comprised of both teachers and pupils of Bedford School to perform arrangements of these amazing scores by famous film composers such as John Williams and Hans Zimmer. Ollie told us, “It was so exciting to have the opportunity to showcase some of my favourite pieces of film music. We had a full turn-out and raised just under £200 for Cancer Research. I am so grateful to everyone who gave their free time to make the concert happen.”
