Outdoor Classroom Day at Bedford Prep School
Published by Bedford Prep School on Friday 8th of June 2018
Bedford Prep School’s Y3 boys recently joined with hundreds and thousands of children across the UK by taking part in the global ‘Outdoor Classroom Day’, in celebration of outdoor learning and play. Despite the grey clouds, the boys were very excited to have all their lessons held outdoors, in various settings across the school’s leafy 50-acre estate. The action-packed day was designed to provide the boys with a greater connection to nature as well as to teach them life skills such as resilience, teamwork and creativity, but most of all it was designed to be fun. The myriad of activities included making loo roll bird feeders and clay bird nests, pebble painting, pond dipping in the school’s nature pond, sticklets, team games, a scavenger hunt and den building. The day was all wrapped up with singing and marshmallows around the firepit. Fun was definitely had by one and all!
