Into the Wild

Bedford Prep School Y8 boys enjoyed the adventure of a lifetime as they headed into the wild for their highly-anticipated Bushcraft trip last week. Their home for the duration was the great outdoors, and during their three days of living in the forest and sleeping under canvas, the boys enjoyed connecting with nature, working together and learning new skills. They covered themselves in camouflage paint and leaves to blend into their environment for archery sniper games (with foam-tipped arrows); learnt to throw tomahawks, build dens, set traps, how to whittle and SOS first aid skills; went on wilderness walks, built campfires and sang songs. Food, as anyone with boys can vouch for, is very important – and this did not disappoint either. The highlights, cooked by the boys themselves, included burgers and onion rings (the “best EVER”), panassed salmon (which they learnt how to fillet), pizzas – all cooked over wood fires, as well as pancakes, cookies and brownies. On the final night, the boys entertained their hosts and teachers with a brilliant ‘Tribes Got Talent’ show.
