It was all smiles at Kisimul recently when two of our children’s homes were awarded a ‘Good’ rating.

Swinderby Children’s Home and Acacia Children’s Home each received a ‘Good’ accreditation following a visit by inspectors.

Ofsted praised the overall experience and progress of the young people we support, and commended the effectiveness of leaders and managers at the homes.

The reports also spoke highly of how well our children and young people are helped and protected.

Amongst the positive comments we received were:

“Staff are caring and attentive”

“Social workers and families speak highly about the care provided”

“Children are encouraged to be part of the local community”

“There is good communication and good transition planning”

“Staff ensure children’s needs are well met”

“Children are given the opportunity to develop their independence”

“The nurturing relationships between the staff and children are a key strength of the home”

“Children are supported to enjoy shared activities with their peers”

“Staff spend quality time engaging with children to make sure that they have fun and learn new skills”

“Regular and effective communication with families and partner agencies helps children to settle quickly”

“Children are encouraged to share their views and make choices”

“Staff are well trained and are provided with regular, effective supervision”

Steve Bromley, Director of Children’s Homes at Kisimul, said: “These reports clearly demonstrate the strength of the relationships between the staff and the young people we support. It is great to see the children speaking so movingly about the care they receive, and a wonderful testament to our staff who work so hard to provide a safe and secure environment in which people can thrive.”
