4 Reasons Why We Love Boarding

1. You’re part of a community

Boarding at Kingham Hill School means more than just living on site, but being part of a warm and welcoming community and creating a home away from home. Not only do you have your house parent for support, but your whole boarding house and fellow pupils will share your day-to-day life and help you through both the highs and lows of living at the school.

2. Better access to the school facilities

Living on-site means that you have the freedom to use the school facilities whenever you like. One boarding pupil said he loved being able to use the gym and Astroturf after lessons, something he couldn’t do if wasn’t a boarder.

3. Seeing your friends more often

One student described boarding as one big sleep over with all your best friends, and another said that ‘Boarding gives you the opportunity to not only to have friends but to meet your best friends’. Boarding has the unique benefit of allowing you to spend all day with your friends, and to develop deep friendships with people you may have never met otherwise.

4. You can be independent

Boarding allows you to have some independence from home, a skill which is invaluable later in life and properly prepares you for life after education. It also gives you a head start over your peers at university.
