The Sun Shone At Camberley, And So Did Kingham Hill Racing!

Last weekend, the drivers and support crew of Kingham Hill Racing team went to Camberley for the first race of the 2023/24 season!
For Ollie it was a first race weekend as a newly qualified driver, and despite a mechanical failure in heat one, he built confidence and speed to end up on the podium.
Thomas started the new season in class 14 with a TKM engine: "It took a few laps to get used to the extra power but everything else was the same with the set-up of the kart so it wasn’t as bad as I’d feared!" Class 14 is a small group and Thomas managed three first places and one second across the four races to come first overall. He was delighted to receive a first place trophy in this class at his first try.
Fraser also had a great weekend racing in Class 4: "I really improved my cornering and managed not to spin once. I also did a stint of marshalling during the second race across all classes. I didn’t complete all the races due to an injured wrist but look forward to round 2 at Clay Pigeon!"
Tom enjoyed the track at Camberley, getting used to the smaller grid in Class 12: "I did pretty well I think, I managed a first, a third and a fourth place finish. It was great to take away a trophy this weekend for my first Class 12 race weekend."
Oli was another driver entering a new Class for his season. Improvements to the kart and some practice during the summer paid off, resulting in third place in heats 1 and 4. In heat 2, a mistake from a driver ahead left Oli with nowhere to go, dropping him from 3rd to a disappointing 5th, but that’s racing! The day ended with a well-earned 4th place overall and a trophy to take home with much learned, and more tyres shredded!
For Jamie, it was a steady first two heats only to be pushed off the track from 2nd place in heat 3 - he put in a good recovery drive to end 6th. In the 4th heat, Jamie was hit from behind and wiped out with a bit of bent kart now to be fixed, but he ended the day 8th overall and brought home a trophy for the cabinet!
Lukas is looking forward to a great season after starting well with a first place in the second race, but the strict rules from course officials meant he received too many penalties; he's hoping for better next time!
Thank you as always to Kevin, Nicola, Louise and Laszlo for their help and support keeping the karts running at their best!
