NY Art Tour
Published by Bedford School on Wednesday 12th of December 2012
Over the half term break our Art students and teachers headed to New York on an exciting and thought provoking Study Tour. Visiting numerous galleries, including MOMA, the Frick, the Metropolitan, the Guggenheim, the Whitney and a variety of independent galleries in Chelsea, the boys worked hard - drawing, evaluating and asking pertinent questions about the contemporary work they viewed.Whilst in the Big Apple the boys also experienced of the streets of New York, the Empire State Building, the Statue of Liberty boat tour and the Highline (a disused railway line turned into a metropolitan garden). In addition, they enjoyed a superb evening with Miles Young (OB) who kindly hosted them at his home for drinks, took them to his offices at Ogilvy & Mather where he presented his 'show reel' and finally took them for a BBQ meal in a local restaurant. The boys were hugely impressed and grateful for his generosity, and the way in which Miles shared his knowledge and offered support to any students wishing to pursue a career in Advertising.
The boys had 5 full days of visual stimulation and thought provoking imagery. They were a pleasure to be with and their behaviour was exemplary. And, thankfully, all arrived safely back in the UK before the storm!!
