Munich International School (MIS) is proud of its position as a leading international school; its aim of excellence in education is acknowledged through its accreditation by the Council of International Schools (CIS) and the New England Association of Schools and Colleges (NEASC) as well as through its authorization to offer the three programmes of the International Baccalaureate (IB), each offering an assurance of quality recognized worldwide.

Founded in 1966, MIS is a non-profit, co-educational IB World School where English is the language of instruction. The school's beautiful 26-acre rural campus, is located in Starnberg, about 20 kilometres (12 miles) south of Munich and easily accessible by train or school bus. The school enrols approximately 1200 students in the Junior School, including early childhood, Middle School and Senior School, all of whom enjoy excellent athletic and arts facilities, as well as state of the art technology.

Young at heart and dynamic in spirit, MIS is well respected for its outstanding and innovative international programme. At MIS we are committed to providing a high quality education in a truly multicultural setting. Lying in the heart of Europe, MIS aims to reflect its cultural setting and a global perspective. Some fifty nationalities are represented in the school and our goal is to help each student fulfil his or her potential in an environment that is both challenging and supportive. Therefore, the MIS experience is more than its strong academic programme. We offer a variety of activities in the fine arts, athletics and other extracurricular programmes, such as Model United Nations and Speech and Debate, that enable students to follow their interests and develop skills in a wide variety of areas, as well as a sense of responsibility and commitment. All this leads to MIS students being accepted to a wide range of prestigious universities and colleges throughout the world.

Thanks to inspirational staff, we aim to provide an exceptional learning environment that we believe gives rise to students who are academically successful, well balanced in character and ready to accept the challenges and responsibilities that lie ahead.

We look forward to welcoming you to our campus among the lakes of Bavaria and to the unique and vibrant community that is Munich International School.
