Hazelwood is a Preparatory School for girls and boys from the ages of 2.5 to 13 years. The Larks, our Nursery opened in September 2009 offering full time care for children from 6 months old. With class sizes averaging 18, our aim is to prepare children for Senior School Scholarships and Common Entrance at either 11+ or 13+.
Our school is centred around a magnificent Victorian Manor House with 26 acres of stunning grounds offering plenty of space for recreation and open-air learning. The breathtaking views allow the children to enjoy lung-fulls of fresh air inspiration.
Hazelwood offers children the very best start to their education and welcomes them to one of the warmest school communities in the country. With unrivaled facilities, the school brings out the best in every pupil encouraging each to attain their full potential.
The education offered is broad and rich with the highest academic standards, excellent music, sport and drama. Our pupils develop a curiosity about the world in which they live and a real passion for learning. Most importantly of all they become confident learners, mature and articulate individuals who love coming to school each day. Our pupils take to learning like fish to water.
Hazelwood enjoys terrific success at securing scholarships at 11+ and 13+. The class of 2015/16 have enjoyed success at being awarded fourteen academic, sports, art, music, drama and all-round prizes. Most are leaving to attend their first choice Senior School including Caterham, Tonbridge, Hurstpierpoint, and Whitgift. They say goodbye to the school as responsible and self assured young learners, ready to take on any challenge. We wish them well and thank them for their contribution to life at Hazelwood.
The school was delighted to appoint Lindie Louw as its Head in September 2016. Lindie began her Hazelwood journey in 2000 and has previously served the school as Head of Music and Deputy Head. She is passionately committed to academic excellence and to supporting each and every pupil as they strive to fulfil their potential. In September we were very proud to open the Baily Building, a brand new learning space for Years 3, 4 and 5, flooded with style and light that will usher in the next phase of the school's exciting history.
We look forward to having the opportunity of welcoming you to our school.
