Godolphin GCSE Results 2017
Following on from their excellent A-level results, Godolphin in Salisbury has returned an impressive set of GCSE results with the highest % of A* - C grades for three years. One in five girls achieved straight A*- A grades and almost half were awarded straight A*- B grades.
“These results really show what can be achieved with self-belief, sheer determination and a consistent work ethic; I am so very proud of all the girls. My thanks to the teaching staff for going the extra mile for their students and to our parents for all their support behind the scenes” said Mrs Emma Hattersley, Head. “Good GCSE grades are so crucial for future university applications and will enable our new Lower Sixth to start the academic year full of confidence.”
The full set of results at Godolphin were as follows:
A* - A 60%
A* - B 83%
A* - C 97%
Some girls did exceptionally well, with Emily Horsfield achieving 11 A*s and 2 As, Polly Blythe with 11 A*s, Natasha Mundell with 10 A*s and 2 As, Lara van der Horst with 9 A*s and 2 As and both Emma Simon and Sophie du Ry achieving 9 A*s and 1 A. Particular congratulations this year go to two sets of twins Abigail and Samantha Willis and Helen and Samantha Eggleton, who between them have an impressive 17 A*s and 17 As.
Many of the girls made strong progress since the beginning of the Fourth Year, in particular Theodora Whittaker, Minna Dubois, Olivia Forge, Martha Lawrence, Sophie du Ry and Deya Shergill.
Art, DT, Biology, Chemistry, Physics, Geology and Further Maths all returned particularly good GCSE results, showing Godolphin’s continuing strength in STEM as well as creative subjects.
These results are all the more impressive when considered alongside the girls’ achievements in co-curricular activities such as the CCF, Ten Tors Challenge and the Duke of Edinburgh award scheme as well as in Godolphin’s wide range of drama, music, art and sporting events.
After achieving such excellent results, students can now look ahead with confidence as they embark upon their A-level studies in Godolphin’s newly re-developed Sixth Form centre. In September, a state-of-the-art, extensively provisioned Sixth Form study centre will open its doors for the first time, providing all the support necessary for girls to achieve their ambitions, from Oxbridge entry through to the world of work and apprenticeships. With 25 subjects to choose from, popular A-level choices look to be Art, Maths, the Sciences and Business. Published: August 29 2017
