ACS Hillingdon hosts inaugural 'ACS Schools Cup'
ACS Hillingdon International School played host to the first ACS School’s Cup on 28 October, with 65 students and eight coaches from across the four ACS schools taking part.
The all-day football tournament saw students at ACS Hillingdon and its sister campuses, Cobham and Egham, as well as Doha, Qatar, come together for the first time to compete in a friendly and competitive event. Each school sent one senior football team with students aged 14-18.
After closely contested matches, the title was decided by goal difference. Cobham took the victory as they had accumulated the most amount of goals across the competition.
Iver Fields, ACS Hillingdon’s sports ground, provided the venue for the competition, while host families from Hillingdon hosted Doha students during their stay. The torch will now be passed on to another ACS school to hold the tournament next year, with hopes for it to become a firm fixture in the school calendar, and include other favourite sports.
Jett Russell, Athletic Director at ACS Hillingdon who organised the event, commented:
“It was incredible to get all ACS schools together to take part in this exciting, new tournament. After hearing that ACS Doha were interested in taking a trip to London last year, I formulated the plan to have the first Schools Cup. It was fantastic to see the competitive nature between schools during matches, and the friendly behaviour amongst students off the pitch.”Published: November 3 2017
