Bootham Pentathlete Competes for Team GB
A Bootham schoolboy is celebrating after successfully competing for Team GB at the Youth Olympic Games in Buenos Aires.
Toby Price, aged 17, and his partner Anna Jurt (Switzerland) came 7th in the Mixed International Team Modern Pentathlon event.
This followed Toby's earlier success in the Men's Individual Modern Pentathlon event, in which he came 17th.
Toby is currently in his final year at Bootham School studying for A-levels in Physics, Biology, Mathematics and Further Mathematics.
He is also in the process of finalising his application to study Engineering at a number of top universities including Cambridge and Bath.
Toby has been taking part in the modern pentathlon since the age of 12 and has competed in a number of international events, including more recently the Under 19 European Cup in Spain.
Andy Bell, Director of Sport at Bootham School, said: “We are so pleased for Toby. It is amazing that he has managed to balance all the extra training to compete for GB in Buenos Aires whilst also continuing to study for his A Levels at Bootham. It shows his determination and his obvious talent in the sport.
Toby, of Alne, said: “I am very proud to have had this opportunity to represent not only my school but my country.”Published: January 16 2019
