Strathallan Student Picks Up Perthshire's Senior Young Artist Of The Year Award

Published by Strathallan School on Saturday 18th of November 2023

Strathallan School student Chloe T has been named the ‘Senior Young Artist of the Year’ by the Rotary Club of Perth Kinnoull.

Chloe’s winning entry ‘Warrior’ is a pencil and charcoal drawing inspired by a recent visit to Paris with her family where she was inspired by statues from Ancient Greece.

Chloe said, “I honestly didn’t think it would be selected for runner up let alone win but I’m both thrilled and relieved to have won. I had to take a break after finishing that piece, it was quite emotional for me and to see that others respect it means the world to me and gives me confidence to take art further after A Level.”

Chloe’s artwork and the rest of the Winners and Runners-Up in the Young Artists’ Competition will be display at the Annual Exhibition of The Perthshire Art Association at the Fergusson Gallery, Thursday to Monday from 10 am to 4 pm from 9th November to 10th December 2023.

Head of Art at Strathallan, Frank Glancy said, “I’m thrilled for Chloe that her piece was selected to win the senior prize. Chloe is a technically gifted young artist but her work is also very thoughtful and reflective. Chloe’s achievement is again testament to the calibre of students we are seeing in our Art Department at Strathallan. Long may it continue.”
