Churcher's College Invite You To An Evening with Nasser Hussain OBE In support of Maddy’s Mark

Tickets are on sale on ChurchersCollege.com and all proceeds go to charity, Maddy’s Mark. The event is hosted at Maddy’s former school, Churcher's College, on 24 April 2024. Doors open at 5.45pm, the event begins at 6.30pm. Guests may ask Nasser a question in advance when booking a ticket - as many as possible will be answered at the event. The ticket price includes a welcome drink on arrival and there is a cash bar open all evening. The event concludes with an auction of exceptional prizes that you will not want to miss. All proceeds go to Maddy’s Mark.
About Nasser Hussain
Nasser Hussain is a British cricket commentator, author, actor and former cricketer who captained the England cricket team between 1999 and 2003, with his overall international career extending from 1990 to 2004. A pugnacious right-handed batsman, Hussain scored over 30,000 runs from more than 650 matches across all first-class and List-A cricket, including 62 centuries. His highest Test score of 207, scored in the first Test of the 1997 Ashes at Edgbaston, was described by Wisden as “touched by genius”. Simon Barnes of The Times wrote that Hussain was “perhaps the finest captain to hold the office” and Wisden described him as one of the most significant captains in the history of the England team. Probably the complement he would most cherish would be from Sachin Tendulker who wrote in his autobiography Playing It My Way: My Autobiography that “Among the Captains I have played against; I consider Nasser Hussain the best. He was an excellent strategist … and a very good thinker about the game.” Both his thoughts on the current state of cricket and his views on leadership will be invaluable listening to all generations.
About Maddy’s Mark
Maddy’s Mark is a charity set up to honour the legacy of Maddy Lawrence raising funds to promote health and wellbeing in young women, through the sport of rugby. Maddy sadly passed away in March 2022, aged just 20, after suffering from a rugby injury, whilst playing for her university rugby team in Bristol. Despite a courageous fight in hospital, Maddy tragically died of sepsis, two weeks after her injury. She was bright, loving and sporty, filling her family with laughter and joy, described by friends as a shining light in their lives. This charity has been set up in Maddy’s name to support a cause she held close to her heart. Maddy was passionate about women’s rugby, the inclusivity and team spirit, not only providing challenge and fitness, but also helping to build self-esteem, long lasting friendships, and a sense of belonging. Maddy’s Mark aims to focus on the standards of teamwork, mutual support and fellowship to help young women harness their own boldness and resilience.
