Double Success for Warwick School

Published by Warwick School on Tuesday 5th of February 2013

After poor weather conditions had postponed this match, Warwick School U15s travelled to Maidenhead Rugby Club to play their long awaited Daily Mail Cup round against Bedford School.
The Warwick School side started the match positively by playing an offensive kicking game and looking to pin the opposition in their own half. This strategy allowed Jack Ashford to go over for 2 tries following good team play from attacking scrums and lineouts. Will Stride then added a huge penalty from past the half way line to put the side 13 - 0 up. Jordan Ainslie followed this by capitalising on a Bedford handling mistake to kick through and put Warwick up 20 - 0 at half time.
In the second half huge pressure came from the very powerful and able Bedford side and they scored two converted tries which lead to a nail biting last 10 minutes. A great turnover from Joe Hill allowed the very mobile James Taylor-Watts to run the ball out and resulted in a wonderful win for Warwick. The Warwick School U15s were elated as they had been beaten 31-7 earlier in the season by Bedford, who until this week were undefeated this season.
The Warwick School team now progresses to the Quarter Finals where they face Wellington College at home.
This is a double success for Warwick School as their U18 team beat Stamford School last week to also get through to the Quarter Finals. This will be an away match against Wilmslow High School on 6 February 2013.
Final Score U15 Daily Mail Cup 6th round: Warwick School 20-14 Bedford School.
