Merchiston Pupils Gain Entry to Oxford and Cambridge

At last week's assembly the Headmaster expressed how wonderful it was to be able to congratulate the boys who have been successful in gaining entrance offers from Oxford and Cambridge Universities. Five Merchiston pupils have gained entry to Oxbridge: Gavin Medicine at Gonville and Caius College, Cambridge; Sam Engineering at Fitzwilliam College, Cambridge; Benny Engineering at Peterhouse College, Cambridge; Tom Theology at Regent's Park College, Oxford and John Natural Science at Trinity College, Cambridge.

Merchiston Castle School continues to excel in academia showing that it offers far more than outstanding sporting achievements. The Edinburgh-based school is the top Scottish School for GCSE A* and A grades. In 2010 80% of pupils gained A* -B grades at A Level and in 2010 82% of leavers gained entry to their first choice of university. As the rest of the boys await news on where they will begin the next chapter of their education it is already apparent that 2011 will be another successful year for Merchiston's young men.
