Sherborne Girls is celebrating impressive GCSE results

Following the announcement of outstanding results at A level last week, Sherborne Girls is pleased to announce an equally impressive performance at GCSE.

This year, two-thirds of all GCSE papers have achieved an A* or A grade, with nearly a third of papers achieving an A*. These results are particularly impressive in the context of the national average of passes at A*/A as 21% and at A* announced as 6.7%.

A remarkable 34% of all candidates achieved 9 or more A*/A grades and 42% of girls achieved 8 or more A*/A grades.
Special mention goes to Julia Routledge who achieved an outstanding 12 A* grades, scoring full marks in a number of her subjects including all three sciences. She was followed closely by Nicola Savage who achieved 10 A* grades. Allegra Lindblom, Harriet Comer-Calder and Grace Longman all achieved 9 A* grades; Araminta Parker and Alice Westropp achieved 8 A* grades; Sophia Hutchinson, Kate Hon, Georgina Lane, Alice Lloyd, Leonie Schmiedeberg all achieved 7 A* grades; Stella Botes, Olivia Hetherington, Mairi Galbraith and Madeleine Jannoe all achieved 6 A* grades.

Commenting on the results, Headmistress Jenny Dwyer said, 'Congratulations to all the girls who worked so hard to achieve these excellent results. We are delighted that our strength in STEM subjects is demonstrated as it was with our A level results, with girls achieving 37% at A* and 75% at A*/A in these subjects. Our modern linguists have also achieved exceptional results with 39% at A* and 65% at A*/A. There are some amazing individual achievements and we are extremely proud of all our students.'
