Following last weeks Wellington International Rugby Festival which featured divisional England squads, Bedford Modern School Year 11 student Tom Hardwick, has been selected to play in the England U16 team against Wales at the Caerphilly County Borough Centre for Sporting Excellence on Sunday 19 April 2015.
The BMW Wellington International Festival hosted annually by Wellington College in Berkshire, saw an action packed week of Rugby. The Festival included more than 100 players age 16 or under who represent four England U16 sides (North, Midlands, London and South East, and South West), two Welsh U16 sides (Celts and Druids), two French U16 sides (East and West), the Scotland U16s, and an Italian Academy Select U17 side.

Selection for the event started last May as part of a national development programme at U16 level and included divisional training camps. The selection team worked closely with regional academies and schools to ensure consistency in both coaching and performance.

Tom impressed during this prestigious event which led to his selection to the U16 England team. Patrick Jerram, Director of Sport at BMS said This is a fantastic achievement for Tom who has worked particularly hard over the past 2 years to gain his selection. Hopefully, this will be just the start of his journey and ultimately fulfil his dream of playing rugby for the full England team.

Following selection for the England U16 team Tom will have the opportunity to build his credentials in future England age-group squads.
