St. John's on-the-hill will host the Marriott St. Pierre Order of Merit golfing competition during its Summer Open Day on Saturday the 16th May 2015.

On May 16th, St Johns on-the-hill School, Tutshill, Chepstow will host the Order of Merit golfing competition on behalf of Marriott St. Pierre. The competition is called Extreme Golf and comprises a four hole, crazy golf course set out for junior golfers to play using real golf clubs and golf balls which are designed to fly less distance. Last year's spectators were entertained by some excellent young talent and a nail biting finale to the competition.

This year St. John's on-the-hill will be providing the beautiful grounds in which to play along with mouth-watering refreshments throughout the day. The event coincides with St. John's Summer Open Day, where families are invited into the campus to meet with staff and pupils and are encouraged to explore the extensive facilities they have to offer. The school's new Head Teacher Mr David Griffiths looks forward to welcoming families to this event.

St. Pierre has one of the busiest junior golfing academies within Wales, where over 100 children are coached every weekend. The Rangers section is aimed at children between the ages of 5-14 who have not yet obtained an official club handicap.

There are three sections within the St. Pierre Rangers, Bronze for beginners, Silver for intermediate level, and Gold which is a stepping stone from the Rangers to Junior membership, who receive the weekly tuition plus additional on course coaching through the summer. Rangers take part in weekly tuition, have monthly competitions contributing to an order of merit, and receive a free crested polo shirt and a footjoy glove.
