Exciting hustings at St Benedicts

Published Thursday 7th of May 2015 11:16:30 AM

Two Upper Fifth pupils at St Benedicts School, Ben Farmer and Sam Lythgoe, have pulled off a remarkable coup in staging an election debate in school on Monday 27th April involving candidates running for the marginal Ealing Central and Acton constituency. The panel included Angie Bray (Conservative), Rupa Huq (Labour), Jon Ball (Liberal Democrat), Peter Florence (UKIP) and a representative from the Green Party, Nick Chapman.

Students, staff and parents from St Benedicts, along with students and staff from other local schools in the constituency, packed the Cloisters Hall to hear the panel answer questions put by the audience on areas including housing, the NHS, tuition fees, the economy and expansion programmes. It was an exciting evening which might well have played an important part in deciding who gets to Westminster!
