A group of adventurers from ACS Cobham recently travelled to Somerset for a five-day trip to the Elizabethan Manor House and field study centre, Nettlecombe Court. The 12 to 13-year-olds enjoyed a variety of adventurous activities, from a nature walk complete with bat detectors to fossil hunting and braving the high ropes course. Students also explored Exmoor National Park, studying the river systems and ecology of the local area. To contribute towards coursework in science, language arts and social studies, students visited Lynmouth, Devon, to discover the Lyn River and learn more about the 1952 flood disaster and the area’s recovery. Commenting on the success of the trip, Brianna Gray, ACS Cobham teacher and trip leader, said: “We had a fantastic trip filled with team building and collaborative exploration, coupled with curricular study in science, history, geography, and art that we will continue to build upon during the year.”
