Devizes to Westminster Canoe Marathon

Published Tuesday 10th of May 2011 02:40:07 PM

Many congratulations to the eight Dauntsey's crews who successfully completed the Devizes to Westminster Canoe Race over the Easter weekend.

The crews set off early on Good Friday morning from Devizes Wharf. Three days later, after 125 miles of paddling, 77 portages, three nights camping, enduring blisters, battling exhaustion and the hottest weather conditions ever for a DW race, all 8 crews passed under Westminster Bridge on Easter Monday morning to complete the race. The level of endurance and achievement in finishing this gruelling race (often known as the Canoeists' Everest) should not be under estimated, and all paddlers, and their tireless support crews of parents, friends, and family, are to be heartily congratulated.
