Dauntsey’s Stages Sondheim’s A Funny Thing Happened On the Way to the Forum. Picture shows: Pupils from Dauntsey’s performing A Funny Thing Happened On the Way to the Forum. Last week pupils from Dauntsey’s staged Sondheim's joyous, musical romp through Rome, A Funny Thing Happened On the Way to the Forum. Over five nights, an energetic and talented cast of 45 pupils from years 10 to 13 (Fourth Form to Upper Sixth). presented a fast-paced, witty and irreverent show with desperate lovers, scheming neighbours and secrets behind every toga. Behind the scenes, the cast was superbly supported by a magnificent orchestra and back-stage crew made up of 30 more pupils making an essential contribution to the success of the show. Rikki Jackson, Director of Drama, Dauntsey’s said: “Our production of ‘Forum’ was one of the highlights of the year. The students had a great time presenting this fast paced and laugh out loud presentation of classical Rome. Equally our audiences seemed to appreciate their efforts and appeared to have as much fun as the cast!” Drama is very much part of the fabric of life at Dauntsey’s and most pupils get involved in drama and dance at some point, either on stage or behind the scenes. With six or seven productions each year, ranging from small studio pieces to full stage shows and musicals; the School provide a variety of styles and plenty of choice.
