Independent international school, ACS Hillingdon, is once again offering a fully funded, two-year International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme scholarship to two academically outstanding Year 11 pupils from a local state school. Beginning next academic year, in August 2016, each scholarship covers tuition and associated costs for the two-year programme. Designed to enhance the academic success and broaden the horizons of a bright and ambitious individual, applicants must be predicted to achieve a minimum five Grade As at GCSE, and be keen to progress to a top university. Interested pupils have until the end of January to apply. The IB Diploma programme is highly valued by universities and employers all over the world. Academically challenging, it is widely recognised as the best preparation for university, spanning a wider field of study than single subject A levels. In addition to an excellent academic experience, the scholarship will provide a rich, varied and exciting programme of activities spanning sports, music and drama. Plus, with global citizenship an integral part of school life, some overseas travel is also likely to be high on the agenda. Last summer, for example, many ACS Hillingdon pupils travelled abroad, some undertaking volunteer work at an orphanage in Bulgaria, participating in sports competitions and other international exchanges. “This is a fantastic opportunity for an ambitious and motivated young person to benefit from a world-class education, gaining the best preparation to succeed at university and beyond whilst making lifelong friends from around the world," said Linda LaPine, Head of School at ACS Hillingdon. “I strongly urge any young person looking for a challenging future and predicted to achieve excellent grades next summer to apply now for one of our scholarships.” Eligibility is wide with applications accepted from pupils currently studying at a local state school and with a family / household income of up to £55k pa. Following the initial application process, shortlisted candidates will be invited to attend a non-committal visit to ACS Hillingdon to meet teachers and current pupils and get the feel of the school before any formal offers or decisions are made. Full information on how to apply can be found at http://www.acs-schools.com/Academic-Scholarship-acs-hillingdon; by requesting a non-committal information pack from scholarship@acs-schools.com; or by calling the ACS Hillingdon Dean of Admissions, John Leiner, on 01895 818402. The closing date for applications is 29 January, 2016.
