'Excellent' Independent Schools Inspectorate Report for ACS Cobham

Published Thursday 18th of February 2016 10:16:18 AM

ACS Cobham is celebrating the results of its recent Independent Schools Inspectorate (ISI) report, the equivalent of an OFSTED inspection. The report highlighted the school as an ‘excellent’ place to learn and work – the ISI’s top grade. The inspection, which took place at the end of 2015, praised the high quality of student achievement as well as the stimulating curriculum for all age groups provided by ACS Cobham’s teaching staff. The report noted: “The success of the curriculum is seen in the high levels of co-operation, creativity, application and independence which characterise the learning of students throughout the school.” The ‘excellent’ provision of curricular and extra curricular activities on offer for students, utilising the school’s Performing Arts Centre and professional sports facilities, was also emphasised by the report. Tony Eysele, Head of School at ACS Cobham, commented on the findings: “We are delighted to share the findings from our recent ISI Inspection and congratulate all our students, staff and parents for helping make ACS Cobham an excellent place to learn and work. The results are a testament to a true team effort.” Similarly to an OFSTED inspection, the school only receives four days’ notice before an ISI visit, which evaluates and grades a number of different areas individually. These areas include the quality of boarding; governance; leadership and communication with parent and guardians; and arrangements for pastoral care. At ACS Cobham all of these areas were judged ‘excellent’ by inspectors, who visited the school over a four-day period.
