ACS Hillingdon Lower School students author multilingual story collection

Published Wednesday 9th of March 2016 11:30:07 AM

Lower School students at ACS Hillingdon became published authors this World Book Day, thanks to Lower School Librarian Peggy Travers, who arranged for a collection of their stories and poems to be professionally printed. Aptly linking with the international celebration of books, the imaginative bilingual writers were invited to submit their literary creations in their native languages, resulting in a multilingual anthology. The publication, entitled ‘We Are Writers’, includes stories written in a range of 20 languages, from Japanese to Spanish, which have also been translated into English by ACS Hillingdon parents. Peggy commented: “This international approach makes this collection truly special for our students and parents. We take every opportunity to celebrate our school community’s diversity and it has been fantastic to see children sharing their native languages and cultures in such a creative way. “We couldn’t have done this without the support of the parents, who are equally excited about the collection. It has been a fantastic way to celebrate reading and books this World Book Day!”
