Inspired by the recent Six Nations success for England, ACS Cobham reigned victorious in the International School Sports Tournament (ISST) Rugby Championship, triumphing over four international school teams from across Europe. The two-day competition hosted by the British School of the Netherlands involved schools from Holland, Belgium, England and France. The ACS Cobham team cruised to victory in their first three games against The British School of Paris, The British School of Brussels, and the tournament hosts, before facing The American School in London in the final and making it four wins out of four with a comfortable 31-7 final score. Various other ACS Cobham sports teams also returned from the ISST’s victorious. The ACS Cobham Junior Boys Swim team faced 12 tough competing teams, including the hosts the British School of Brussels, and finished in bronze position. The ACS Cobham Girls Basketball Team were also celebrating, after capturing the bronze medal on their home turf and collecting a trophy for the first time since the 1999 tournament. Facing schools from Belgium, Germany, The Netherlands, Greece, Egypt and England, the ACS Cobham team secured the third place finish following a close 30-27 victory over The American School in Vienna in the semi-final. Dave Schuchter, Head of Sport at ACS Cobham, was impressed with the results, commenting: “These tournaments are a fantastic opportunity for talented sports teams from across Europe to experience the international world of sport. I’m proud of the team’s efforts and hard work this year which really paid off at the championships.”
