Chafyn Grove's Space Seeds have landed

Pupils from Chafyn Grove School have started their 'Rocket Science' experiment by planting some seeds which are truly 'out of this world'! The seeds (appropriately, 'rocket' seeds) have spent six months aboard the International Space Station, orbiting the earth at over 17000mph with astronauts including Britain's own Tim Peake. They returned to earth last month and have been sent out to schools across the country. In Maj Peake's own words “For years, scientists have been researching whether the human race can survive on another planet in the future. In order to do this, we need to grow food in space”. As well as learning horticultural skills, the children are being inspired to think about what astronauts might need in order to survive during a long-term space mission, or even colonise another planet.
