Photograph shows: Dauntsey’s Equestrian Team Wins Show Jumping Championship Dauntsey’s Equestrian Team, made up of Ophelia Straker, Amber Fletcher, Lauren Dallison and Beth McNamara, aged from 14 to 17, has achieved a remarkable win at the National Schools’ Equestrian Association (NSEA) show jumping championship at Home Park, Windsor. Taking place in the midst of the Queen’s 90th birthday celebrations, against the impressive backdrop of Windsor Castle, the competition involved twenty two schools from across the country who had qualified out of some 200 entries. Each rider completed one round with the first six fences set at 90cm before progressing to the timed section of the course consisting of six fences set at 95cm. Lucie McNichol, the teacher in charge of the equestrian club at Dauntsey’s said: “The Dauntsey’s team was the eleventh to ride the course. They stuck to their plan and all four girls rode brilliantly and jumped clear rounds. They had a nervous wait for the other teams to jump but were delighted to finish faster than any other team to come out on top! “Their four wonderful horses were cloaked in the finest Windsor Horse Show rugs for the prize-giving ceremony and, after receiving their rosettes and doing two laps of honour, were accompanied back to the lorry park by a smartly uniformed and mounted Queen's Guard.”
