Award-winning Eco-garden at Culford Prep School

Published Tuesday 5th of July 2016 11:08:32 AM

Culford Prep School’s Eco-garden has been awarded Level One, Two and Three of the Royal Horticultural Society’s School Gardening Awards. To allow the pupils to experience the joy of gardening, the Prep School, with the support of the Prep parents and teachers association, built the garden on the school grounds. Generous donations from parents and local farmers allowed the activity group to bring their garden to life. The garden is divided into four mini-gardens; one containing herbs and flowers, another growing wild flowers, a fairy garden and a vegetable patch, complete with lettuce, beetroot, sweet peas, carrots, courgettes, cauliflower, cucumbers, tomatoes and strawberries. Soon the activity group will plant pumpkin seeds ready for the Autumn, and will continue to work towards Level Four of the RHS awards. Sharon Guntrip, Head of the activity group, said: “The Eco-garden has been a great success so far and is inspiring the children to thoroughly enjoy their outdoor education in the stunning grounds of Culford School.”
