ACS Cobham students celebrate outstanding 2016 IB and AP results

Students receive International Baccalaureate Diploma and Advanced Placement results This past week saw students of ACS Cobham International School receive both their International Baccalaureate (IB) and Advanced Placement (AP) exam results, enabling them to go on to universities in the UK, US and around the world. IB results In total 97 diplomas were awarded to the 2016 cohort with 15 students completing bilingual diplomas in languages that included Japanese, Russian and Italian. 36% of students achieved a grade six or seven, the equivalent to an A or A* at A-level. 13 per cent of IB Diploma students achieved 38 points or above, worth 567 UCAS points. To put this in context four A* grades at A Level is equal to 560 UCAS points. AP results 109 students also received the results of their Advanced Placement (AP) studies with 82 per cent achieving a grade three or above. “Success” on an AP exam is defined as a score of 3 or higher that research finds predictive of University and degree success. The AP programme is taught in over 116 countries, with over 18,000 schools across the globe participating in the programme. Offering a range subjects, the AP enables students to earn valuable credit at universities in North America who are keen to accept students who can demonstrate they are hard-working and committed. University skills best provided by the IB Diploma Programme include encouraging independent inquiry, 95 per cent; developing self-management skills, 84 per cent; and nurturing an open mind, 82 per cent.
