22 push ups for ACS Egham students

Published Thursday 22nd of September 2016 03:39:02 PM

ACS Egham International School students recently took part in the ‘22 Push Up Challenge’ to raise awareness for army veterans and connected mental health and suicide issues. The online movement aims to encourage individuals or groups filming themselves doing 22 push ups and nominating others to do the same in order to raise awareness for the 22 army veterans who commit suicide everyday. So far over 19 million push ups have been recorded across the globe, just short of the ultimate 22 million goal. The ACS Egham High School class join other high profile celebrities such as Dwayne Johnson, Kevin Hart and Chris Evans who have all posted their 22 push up attempts online. Whilst raising awareness for veterans, the 17 to 18 year old Egham students also contributed to their Creativity, Activity, Service (CAS) activities. CAS is a module of the International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme, which supports personal and interpersonal development by learning through experience. Sarah Garlick, the Head of Theatre and Joint CAS Co-ordinator at ACS Egham, commented: “It was a fantastic effort from the students to raise awareness for army veterans. We’re hoping this will start a trend across some of the other schools in the county, and we can’t wait to see their videos for this worthy cause.” ACS Egham’s video can be found on their Facebook page (www.facebook.com/ACSEgham), and they have challenged sister school, ACS Cobham, to do the same.
