Denstone College holds its firsts National Independent Schools Triathlon

Published Monday 10th of July 2017 01:36:57 PM

Last month Denstone College hosted the inaugural National Independent Schools Triathlon. A total of 155 athletes between the ages of 6 and 18 from 22 different schools from across the country competed in the varying age group races across the day. All races began with pool swims of increasing distances, with the athletes set off in waves with 2 minute gaps between them. The four youth races then set off around the grounds of the college on their bikes, whilst the oldest age group ventured off site to complete a 10,000m bike course around the local roads. All the age groups then finished with varying length runs around the College cross country course. There were individual trophies for the first three girls and boys in each age group with the overall championship shield for the winning school going to Denstone College. The College provided a great venue for both athletes and spectators; and the atmosphere was one of great excitement. The whole day was incredibly enjoyable and all athletes should be immensely proud of their achievements. Thank you to all the spectators that came to encourage and cheer on, the athletes that competed so brilliantly, the volunteers for their hard work throughout the day, our sponsors for all their support, the College and grounds staff for allowing this event to be the success it was, and to Peak Performance for being the driving force behind the whole event. The College would also like thank Miss Berger-North for organising such a fantastic event. Well done all!
