Bedford School CCF Field Training at RAF Barnham

Army cadets from Bedford School’s Combined Cadet Force (CCF) enjoyed a field training weekend at RAF Barnham in Suffolk on 13 and 14 October. The RAF Station, which was originally a high-security storage facility for nuclear weapons in the 1950s and 60s, is now used for RAF Regiment training. Around 30 cadets were deployed in the area on Saturday evening and took part in a series of patrols and ambushes, followed by a full-scale Platoon Attack on the ‘Enemy’ (senior cadets). All involved worked very hard and the aims of the exercise were achieved. It was a fun experience, as well as being both physically and mentally challenging, especially for those in positions of responsibility.
