In August, newly appointed Headmaster of Kingswood School, Mr Andrew Gordon-Brown and his son Kit arrived at Summerfield House after a 200 mile cycle from their hometown of Truro in Cornwall. The father and son duo covered 180 miles in the first two days and spent the weekend with close friends just outside Bristol, before completing their final leg to Bath. The route involved approximately 4,000 metres of elevation, raising the challenge even more for these avid outdoor adventure enthusiasts. Speaking of what prompted him to take on this challenge, Andrew said: “I’m generally up for a challenge! I have been doing quite a bit of cycling during lockdown and it seemed like a fun thing to embark on. I’ve been toying with the idea that I might one day cycle from Land’s End to John o’ Groats, so the ride to Bath might turn out to be a not so gentle introduction.” As an ex-Olympic rower, there is no doubt that Andrew will enjoy discovering Bath and the surrounding area and perhaps even join one of the rowing clubs on the Avon. The cycle marked the official move of the entire Gordon-Brown family to Bath and Kingswood. As he prepared for the start of the academic year, Andrew was looking forward to starting the process of getting to know everyone.
