Daily Mail Cup Triumph

The Bedford squad stormed through to the last 32 of the Daily mail cup with a resounding 51-0 victory over Wymondham College on Thursday 22nd November. The U15 squad, who are currently undefeated in the competition, dominated the match to force an early end to the fixture, hitting the 50-point limit ten minutes before the end of time.

Tries from Euan Weed, fly-half Oliver Burgess, Shay Boyd, Simon Beal, Jake Carter and two apiece from wingers Adewale Tunde and Arun Kalyan earned Bedford a thoroughly professional and impressive win.

Weed opened the scoring in the first half, before Burgess and the quick-footed Tunde extended the lead to 15 points. In the second half Bedford moved into top gear to score six tries in succession: Shay Boyd opened the scoring with a try and a conversion from Burgess increased their lead to 22 points. Shortly after Jake Carter made it five, then Simon Beal added the sixth, before left wing Arun Kalyan went over twice to score two almost identical and well-worked tries. A try by Adewale Tunde wrapped up the match with 10 minutes to spare.

A solid Bedford defence throughout ensured a clean sheet, with full-back John Hunt, putting a swift end to Wymondham's only breakaway of the game.
