Girls U11 reach Hockey IAPS National Finals!

Published on isbi School News dated Thursday 16th of November 2023

The U11 Girls Hockey team travelled to Millfield for the National finals. It was an exciting adventure for the team as it included an overnight stay which was just as much the highlight as the Hockey itself! Before playing the girls went in to the pavilion to find Mr Hill's name on 3 boards of Achievements as he went to Millfield. It was a special moment, talk about inspiring the next generation.

The girls started off strong however with a mix of wins draws and losses they just missed out on points to go into the Cup. We played some really good Hockey though and were able to to gain a place in the Plate Final. We then faced Gresham, the first half was good with both teams having chances and both teams GKs doing very well to keep any goals out. In the second half Gresham stepped up their skill level performing reverse hit shots on the move and attacking with real strength and power. They scored 2 goals very quickly and before we knew It the whistle had gone. It was a well deserved win but St Andrew’s should be very proud of their achievements to gain a Silver Medal in the plate.

Well done to all the girls and a huge thank you to Mr Hill for coaching the girls this season and for assisting Mrs Murray at the Nationals.
